Le was a visiting student from Beihang University, China and her major was Materials Science and Engineering. Before visiting SBML, she researched in electrocatalysts and measurement of graphene’s local density using optical methods. During her visit, she studied how interactions between soft materials and cells affect collective behavior of cells and assembled a 3D printer for printing hydrogels.
Le was born in Beijing, China. She likes listening to music and watching movies. In her spare time, she also likes traveling and enjoying delicious food with her friends.

Brandon Phan is a second year undergraduate student studying Biomedical Engineering. He has been working at the Makerspace in Alderman library in the past year 3D printing and teaching others how to do it. He will be focusing on the 3D printing areas in research while collaborating with others.
Brandon loves to watch Netflix, play soccer and basketball, and look at nice shoes. He is from Northern Virginia and enjoys Vietnamese cuisine.

Sneha Ravi is a first-year undergraduate student. Her past research experience includes interning at the National Institutes of Health. She is currently working on a project to observe bacterial bio-film formation in the presence of mucus.
Sneha was born in Maryland, but grew up in McLean, VA. She is passionate about sustainability and also loves to learn about international cuisines and traditions.

Rebecca Richardson is a second-year undergraduate student in Chemical Engineering. She is also pursuing an interdisciplinary minor in Technology and the Environment with a concentration in Environmental Planning and Policy. In Soft Biomatter Lab, she is working on bacteria in porous media.
Rebecca is from the Washington, D.C. area. In her free time she likes to row, spin, cook, and read.

Yuehui Wang is a visiting Ph.D. student in Material Science and Engineering. She received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at China University of Petroleum-Beijing University and did her Ph.D. research at Zhejiang University.
She was born in Jilin, China. She is very glad to share her experience and culture with others. She loves to cook and make friends.

Sean Wei is going to start his undergraduate study at UCLA. Sean’s favorite subjects are math and chemistry and he intends to pursue a degree in chemical engineering in the future. Sean’s multi-disciplinary focus is mirrored in his athletic involvement.
Aside from being heavily invested in math and science, Sean is also an avid athlete; he participated in the marching band, varsity tennis, and varsity football teams at his school. During his time at the Materials Science Department at UVA, he hopes to gain firsthand experience that is unable to be taught in classrooms whilst contributing to the research of the students in the lab.

Zhinan is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Polymer Science and Engineering in Sichuan University. He is interested in polymer synthesis and soft materials. He’s now working on synthesizing new polymers and use 3D printing to transform to functional architectures.
Zhinan comes from China. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, running, playing skateboard and basketball.
